Veritable Quandary Restaurant in Portland Oregon will be closing at the end of September 2016. VQ is a friendly restaurant and very good food. To remember VQ I am plein air painting the VQ building. The plans are to replace this building with a county courthouse. Thanks VQ for the good meals. Here is a video of my painting VQ.
Kara Wilde and John Lehman also painted VQ Tuesday, August 30, 2016.
Plein air painting in the rain in Portland at the Oregon Maritime Museum aboard the Steamer Portland. Kara Wilde, Paul Lockhart , John Lehman, and I painted under the awning on the deck of the steamer. Nice view but cold and wet. Welcome to plein air painting in Portland. I painted the Smith Block, an "iron" building on SW Naito. Walkers along the waterfront today were very scarce. A little misty rain and everyone disappears. Kara painting Burnside Bridge. John painting Morrison Bridge. Paul painting the USS Oregon superstructure. Brooks painting Smith Block Pauls' USS Oregon superstructure Brooks' Smith's Block
Painters take your mark. Spring color is on the way and better weather is coming. Here are three paint-outs to start our spring with: Thursday, March 12: Paint Cornell Farm, 8212 SW Barnes Rd, Portland, OR from 1pm to 3pm. Deby Barnhart (the owner) has invited us to paint the flowers and views at Cornell Farm. Please park out back to leave spaces for her customers. There are restrooms and a lovely restaurant for coffee or brunch. Thursday, March 19: Paint Willamette River views and St. John's bridge from Cathedral Park from 1pm to 3pm. Meet near bathrooms on the west side of the park. In case of light rain we can paint under St. John's Bridge for cover. Thursday, March 26: Paint Magnolias in bloom. Meet at Hoyt Arboretum (where the bathrooms are), 4000 SW Fairview Blvd, at 1pm, then walk to Magnolia Trail. A couple of hundred yards of walking required. Keep paintings outdoors, Brooks
